Weather monitoring

Wind sensors are essential for weather monitoring applications such as air quality analysis, methane leak detection, and dynamic line rating. Accurate wind data enables the tracking of pollutant and methane dispersion, supporting effective environmental management and safety measures. For dynamic line rating, precise wind speed and direction measurements optimise power grid efficiency by calculating real-time line capacity. FT wind sensors deliver reliable, high-resolution data, ensuring dependable performance across these diverse applications.

Why choose FT

FT wind sensors are designed for ice-free operation and require no maintenance, making them an excellent choice for weather monitoring in all climates. Their advanced design prevents ice buildup, delivering accurate wind measurements even in freezing conditions. With no moving parts and no regular upkeep needed, these sensors offer reliable, long-term performance, reducing downtime and operational costs. Built for harsh environments, FT wind sensors provide precise, real-time data to support accurate weather forecasting and monitoring year-round.

Technology

Unique to FT wind sensors, Acu-Res® software automatically compensates for changes in air temperature, pressure, and humidity to ensure data continuity.

MIL-STD-810G

Anti-Icing Test: With the heater switched on, the sensor was exposed to freezing rain in an airflow of 15m/s at -15°C. Even when 37mm of ice had built up on the test bar the sensor itself remained ice-free. De-Icing Test: The sensor was ice-free in under 5 minutes.
